Struggling with communication in my relationship

Hi everyone,

My present partner and I have recently had some communication problems. We frequently seem to be speaking over one another and failing to fully grasp what the other person is saying. Both of us have made efforts to make improvements by being more patient and attentive, but nothing seems to be working.

I'm not sure what to do because I'm beginning to fear that this will be a persistent issue for us. Have any of you ever encountered something similar? What made communication in your relationship better for you? Do you have any advice or resources to share?
