Hmm well, there are a lot more qualified people to talk about the culture here. You will know if you spend more time here, but I guess you do not need to worry too much at the moment since most people treat girls so much better than guys! (for a good reason)

If you plan to be a media person then I would strongly recommend you to read one book - 中文解毒 written by 陳雲. That will be very helpful should you want to write in Chinese.

the book u mentioned was a good one becoz there is an English teacher recommanding it to his friends, and i did read through a few pages of it, so maybe it;s time to take the action! hahaha!

English teacher recommended this book to you? Anyway it's an excellent book. I could not stop reading it till I finished, just like novels written by 金庸.

I won't say I'm interested in culture... at least not the popular ones. I do like ancient Chinese culture a lot and that probably made me an exceptionally boring guy LOL

I guess the reason I don't like popular culture is that most of them put too much emphasis on "me" - my feeling / opinion / intuition / love are of utmost importance. Nothing else matters.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with that - but that's not enough I guess. I prefer to spend time on reading something special / creative / unique, especially insightful discussions that are well-supported by the facts.... Our society needs people that can think critically, instead of blindly following Western cultures.

how about Taoism?

Personally, in my video editing work, I would use fade in/out to white as "cut" transitions...

Rita, what I mean is the transition of some scenes due to your editing from one shot to another. Some shots are also cut into very short pieces, I know it is because of NG, but if it is too short, I would rather retake instead of keeping bits and pieces.
