If you are accustomed to chinese tradition a kiss on a cheek is sufficent.
If you are accustomed to western (north american) a hug and a kiss on a cheek is proper.
If you are accustomed to european (ex. French) a hug and a french kiss is best.
But if you are still living in the era of feudal China a handshake is suffice.
