i m male,, 33... same reason, rountine entertianment can kill time. but fail to kill boredness
-
hi all, mind if i chime in?
-
NC,
yes true. I was thinking to myself last night how I spent my x'mas and new year's eve the first few years when I first came back to HK. We partied and stuff but still feeling lonely especially back home after party.
-
welcome ozguy! how are you doing this evening?
-
hi peyton,
just another day in the year for me. Kind of relaxing after dinner now and catching some rubbish on tv.......see just another normal day
-
ozguy,
yes you're right. I don't see all these special season holidays as special as before....feeling better if I see it as just another day.
-
had a couple of friends dropped into my flat to see in the new year
-
guess it's to do with age. Once you have seen a certain number of new years, they become uneventful
-
ozguy,
where do you live? cos your place can see the fireworks or sth?
-
i am in melbourne at the moment, not too far from the CBD, so I can catch a bit of the fireworks
-
but after seeing the HK version so many times, you tend to get jaded about these things. It's more important to be around friends, rather than being able to participate in "events'
-
ok you're in melbourne now. so you live there ?
-
i am on short term assignment here, only a few more months to go
-
interesting! I have never been to Australia actually. Would love to go and pay a visit some time later.
-
hi everyone. happy new year
-
peyton,
It's a nice place to visit really, good clean air, slow and easy going lifestyle and lots of natural scenery. It's summer now,
-
hi eros
-
eros,
hi! happy new year to you too! how's your day?
ozguy,
I'm sure it is a nice place to visit. I do have friends from OZ and love to go there and pay a visit some time this year. so will you be back to HK at all?
-
Melbourne is a very livable city. I used to live in Melbourne for almost 5 years. I stayed along St Kilda Road during my last year in Melbourne. From where I live, I oversee Albert Park and can literally watched Formula One race from my balcony. Still remember my good old days in Melbourne, Australia.
-
my day has been great. A bit uneventful today although I am looking forward to having a New Year's dinner with my colleagues later in the day. ie, I am not residing in HK now.
-
hi peyton.
-
peyton,
I will be back in april after my assignment finishes.
eros,
St Kilda Road is a nice area, I am in victoria parade, halfway between chinatown and little saigon, suits me fine.
-
eros, where are you now then?
-
Hi brooklyn!! Thanks god I got someone from US! haha.....
-
ozguy
i know where that is. I used to frequent the Vietnamese restaurant called Pacific. Nice seafood there. The Vietnamese beef noodle some 100m down is great too. If I remember correctly, the little Saigon is called Richmond?
I remembered when I was a student, I used to eat at Chinatown almost daily. When I started working there, I had supper once a week there too... to remind me of my student days.
Can you remind me the name of the very expensive Chinese restaurant in Chinatown again? Tom Cruise flew a number of his friends there just to have dinner. Is it called China Drum?
-
haha, happy new year to you. so which part of US you were studying? I guess you know which city I am from.
-
London now.
peyton
where in states did u live in? I spent 6 months in MidWest and 3 months in Big Apple. Harsh winter but fantastic city. Everyone blends into NYC.
-
eros,
that place is called flower drum, i tried to go there during xmas, but amazingly, a chinese restaurant closes for xmas and new year's holidays!!!! man, thta's unheard of.
and yes the little saigon area is called richmond, hell to drive through on work days
-
yes yes...flower drum. I remember now. Thanks for refreshing my memory. I used to hang out at Supper inn to have supper there in the middle of the night. Still remember ordering those congee/porridge and steam oysters. yummy. Do u enjoy going to Victoria Market on Sunday? I love to go there and enjoy a cup of coffee...just watching the world pass by.
-
brooklyn,
happy new year to you too! I were studying somewhere S central of US.
-
o, south central. so any new resolution for a new year.
-
new resolutions? hm...I don't usually make resolutions for new year...haha U?
how long have you been living in US? are you living there at the moment too?
-
eros,
yea, i like victoria market, i go there every saturday to get fresh seafood and stuff, a lot cheaper than the supermarket. Supper inn is near impossible to get in at night, when you need it most haha,
peyton,
how long have you been back in HK?
-
im not in us, planning to go back later. i was there for 10 yrs
-
I've been back for 8 years now.
-
brooklyn,
planning to go back for good? when?
-
PEYTON,
do you still miss it or are you more comfortable in HK now?
