Same Background

As Chinese said "Bamboo Door Match with Bamboo Door; Wooden Door Match with Wooden Door". Does it means that a couple would be better match if they grow up with similar background (like me grow up in Canada or maybe education). To me, I always don't really agree this statement is true.
As of my last 2 relationships for the past 4 years. I still consider that were the relationship which I always recall and will be as well.
When I chatted with my buddy, she said the only problem is me and her background. Well, even this may be the true, I still believe a couple can make everything work out as long as they believe their feeling. Anyway, wish all couples have a happy ending. Now and forever!
